Why TerraTote?
You'll find that TerraTotes are different from other reusable grocery totes
currently on the market.
We field tested them for usability, foldability,
ease of transport, and overall satisfaction. In fact, it
took 9 months to
fully design and execute our Organic Cotton TerraTote. We tested fabrics,
shapes,
sizes and handle lengths. The result, we're quite sure, is unlike
any other bag you've used.

The Bag Material -
We offer our
reusable bags in a variety of cotton cloth weights and finishes. The
Original Organic TerraTote is made from SKAL certified organic cotton that is
sewn into a generously-sized
shopping tote. Field tested for its strength and durability, it
offers a stiff drape and a flat bottom that allows for
easy loading. Don't worry; it still folds down small and flat when not in
use. Whether you choose our premium
organic or regular all-natural cotton, you can rest assured these bags are 100%
earth friendly.

The Bag Handle
-
Our longer
length handles are a little more versatile than the short handles
of paper or
plastic sacks. Choose to throw a bag over the shoulder, carry it over a bent
arm, or carry it in your
hand. And with the size and strength of our reusable
grocery bags, it’s easy to carry 3 or 4 bags at a time.

TerraTotes are made from
certified organic and all-natural cotton that is grown and woven in India.
The
bags are stitched using fair wage and labor practices - our group
offers Indian women the
opportunity to sew in their own homes, allowing them to
take care of the house and children while
contributing to the household income. All women are trained in provided workshops and are supervised
by regional representatives. The finished bags are then quality inspected,
carefully packed, and floated
by boat to Norfolk VA.
We do not consider sweatshop labor or child labor during
any phase of production.

The Bag Transport
-
In
partnership with TerraPass, every shipment of cloth bags that we coordinate is
carbon offset. This means that all the bad stuff that results from
transportation (CO2, global warming, oil dependence)
is counterbalanced by the
funding of renewable energy including wind energy, biomass (like dairy farm
methane), and
biodiesel. For more information about TerraPass, visit www.terrapass.com.
